PERSONALITY - Linda142

Hello my Blog Readers,

I decided to start "Personality" series on my blog to talk about people I meet on Etsy. Today it is all about Linda!

I am so excited that I have an opportunity to meet wonderful designers and artisans here on Etsy. Linda is one of them.  She creates colorful pieces by using various gemstones. Her color combinations are very impressive!

This is what she tells us about her designs:

“I love color and what the gemstones and colors symbolize and create one-of-a-kind, unusual designs of handbeaded gemstone and glass pendants, bracelets, earrings, beaded bookmarks, rings, beaded keychains and car mirror jewelry”.

“My inspiration comes from the beads, colors, shapes and gemstone characteristics”.

Linda’s 3-rd anniversary of being on Etsy is coming up soon. Congratulations!

Visit Linda’s shop at lindab142.etsy.com to see more of her designs.

Meet the dogs.

Here they are: Daisy, a 15-year old Jack Russell Mix and Sasha, a 5-year old Pekingese.

Daisy was found in the box when she was a tiny, 1 pound puppy. A man who found her lived in the apartment so he could not keep her. We took her in. Boy was she a bundle of energy! She is very much a people’s dog, very clingy and does not like to be alone (who does?). If I knew that, I’d name her Velcro. Daisy likes to sleep under covers. In the middle of the night she jumps into bed and pounds me until I pull my blanket up so she can crawl under.
One day, in the summer of 2002 Daisy suddenly stopped walking.  She was diagnosed with Lyme disease. It took us long 10 months to get her off meds and somewhat back to somewhat normal. She is doing well but has a lot of old age signs as bad vision, bad hearing, gray hair, arthritis, you name it, she has it…

Have you ever played "Blankie Monster"? No? Daisy loves to play "Blankie Monster" game. She wants to be covered with a blanket and she wants me to shake her. She pretends that she is attacking the blanket and trying to get away, she growls and caries on, such a vicious dog!

Sasha was surrendered to a local animal rescue in 2008. She ended up being our foster dog and then our dog. She is full of energy, loves long walks, friendly but … does not like any noise made by anything and anybody. She makes sure that cats are quiet, they are not allowed to run, jump, play, etc. when Sasha is left in charge.

Sasha is the only one of our pets who is working. She visits a local assisted living facility to play with its residents. She is so good with those people; she is so well-mannered and well-behaved that I cannot believe my eyes. If I did not witness, I would not believe that. Residents there ask me if she ever barks. If they only knew!

Also, Sasha is my alarm clock. I do not use an alarm clock anymore. It is her job to wake me up in the morning.

Sasha likes to model. Here she wears one of my heart necklaces:

Another thing Sasha loves is yogurt. After returning from her evening walk, she eats a large spoon of plain yogurt and crawls in her crate for the night.

Both girls hope you had a fun time reading about them.

Creative Jewelry Designer and an Outstanding Person - GALLA15

My blog today is about one wonderful person, one creative jewelry designer and one "ask-me-I-know-it" gal. Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce Janet aka Galla15! Janet has two Etsy shops http://www.etsy.com/shop/galla15 and http://www.etsy.com/shop/galla15whatnots. She fascinates me with her creativity. Here is one of my favorite pieces that was designed and made by Janet http://www.etsy.com/listing/65618122/crystal-dangle-earrings-indian-pink-wild. This pair will add a perfect touch to your Valentine's Day outfit!

Galla15 served in the Navy as a hospital corpsman (medic) during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. She loved helping people so her goal is a master's program for Physician Assistant school. This school is very demanding and I hope her dreams will come true.

Galla's jewelry is of high quality. She uses unique wire wrapping techniques to create her pieces.

Galla15 runs a WIN A Swarovski Ring in this Contest!

I love New York

We love to go to New York, which we do several times a year. During one of our visits, we walked the High Line.  Incredible and breathtaking! Here is a bit of the High Line's history. If you find this interesting, you may read more on-line.

"The freight trains that traveled through Manhattan's largest industrial area in the 1930s were endangering the population to the point where the City elevated the tracks above ground. The 22-block "High Line" ran from W. 34th Street south to St. John's Park Terminal at Spring Street and maximized the city's flow of goods and produce. By 1980, the final train carried three carloads of frozen turkeys. The High Line's days were numbered as it deteriorated and its tracks covered over with overgrown weeds.

In 1999 when Robert Hammond and Josh David learned that the High Line might face demolition, the two visionaries founded the community-based, non-profit Friends of the High Line organization. Its purpose was to turn the structure into an elevated public park. Later joined by the City of New York, thousands of volunteers, celebrity backers and a $170 million budget, their efforts produced the rebirth of the High Line. Section 1, which runs from Gansevoort Street to W. 20th opened as a public park in June 2009. The W. 20th to 30th Streets final stretch opened at the end of 2010."

ATTENTION - My Promo Frenzy Friend The May Flower

by TheMayFlower

by TheMayFlower

by TheMayFlower
At her Etsy shop The May Flower offers clothes and jewelry for young women. They are stylish and modern, simple and fun.   Her designs have fashionable details throughout.
I have not purchased any of May’s clothes only because I do not have age and figure for her styles. Where are my 25?  (you may laugh now). But from pictures and descriptions they strike me as they are made out of quality materials, they drape wonderfully, they lightweight and flowing.

Why I love COPPER

I love copper. Easy to hammer and easy to patina. Yes, it may turn your skin blue/green but Renaissance wax or other sealants will solve this problem. Copper is inexpensive.
Copper and Sterling Riveted Ring

A green way to patina copper is a warm hard cooked egg and copper piece in the zip lock bag (the patination process will take some time).

Here are some of my copper pieces.
Copper, Sterling and Milky Aqua Pendant

I do not get tired of working with copper.

First snow of 2011

I love the look of this first snow. It is fluffy and light. It is not good to build any snow sculptures but it sure decorated trees nicely.
